Redan

The ancestor. A blind par 3 where the target is obscured by the rise of the land. The green runs away from the player, canting diagonally from front-right to back-left like a receding wave. It is a fortress built on a slant, defended by a bunker of severe depth. The architecture demands a shot that lands on the front shoulder and uses the ground to feed the ball toward the hole; to attack the pin through the air is to invite disaster.
